LumaOrbit Privacy Policy

LumaOrbit is developed by PrairieSoft LLC. LumaOrbit has no accounts and does not sell personal data. The free tier may show third-party app open ads and offer optional rewarded advertising as described below.

Location

If you grant permission, LumaOrbit uses your location on your device to choose the initial map position and calculate local sunlight, moonlight, and eclipse information. PrairieSoft does not receive or retain your location. You may deny or revoke permission and continue using the app by moving the map or searching for a place.

Apple services

LumaOrbit uses Apple MapKit for map content and place search. Apple’s handling of requests is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your device settings.

Privacy-preserving product metrics

LumaOrbit sends PrairieSoft’s first-party service only the app version and aggregate counts for a fixed set of coarse product interactions, such as opening the app, using search, choosing an observation mode, opening an eclipse list, using time playback, or opening Settings or Feedback. LumaOrbit does not send event timestamps, event sequences, location, map coordinates, search text, language, device characteristics, or user, device, installation, session, advertising, or vendor identifiers.

Metrics are aggregated by UTC receipt day, app version, and event name and retained for no more than 90 days. They are used only to understand feature usage and improve LumaOrbit. They are not joined with feedback, purchases, advertising, attribution, or other datasets and cannot be used to identify or profile an individual user.

Feedback

If you choose Send Feedback in LumaOrbit or on this website, LumaOrbit shows what will be submitted and requires your explicit consent. The submission contains only the text you enter, the app or website version, and the privacy-notice version. It does not request a name, email address, account, device identifier, or location. Please do not include contact details, precise locations, or other sensitive information.

Feedback is stored separately from metrics, used only to understand and resolve product feedback, and retained for no more than 90 days. LumaOrbit provides a receipt number after submission. Because no contact information is collected, PrairieSoft cannot reply directly.

Purchases

LumaOrbit Pro is purchased through Apple’s in-app purchase system. LumaOrbit reads verified Apple transaction entitlements to unlock Pro and restore purchases. PrairieSoft does not receive payment-card details.

Advertising in LumaOrbit

Current versions use Google AdMob. Users without Pro may choose to watch a rewarded ad to unlock 30 minutes of full access. Rewarded ads start only after the user chooses to watch; access is granted after the ad reports an earned reward and closes normally. Users without Pro may also see an app open ad when opening or returning to the app, when eligible and no free access time remains. Pro users are not shown these ads. Ad availability can vary.

Google and its advertising partners may process IP addresses (including approximate location inferred from IP), device and advertising identifiers, ad interactions, crash logs, and performance data for advertising, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention. Depending on consent and device settings, data may be linked or used for tracking. See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

LumaOrbit uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to request advertising consent where required and provides an advertising privacy options entry in Settings when required. You can revisit that entry to manage or withdraw your choices. LumaOrbit also requests Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission before tracking where applicable. If tracking permission is not granted, LumaOrbit requests non-personalized ads; these ads may still process data for delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention.

LumaOrbit does not send precise location, map coordinates, place searches, feedback text, or PrairieSoft’s aggregate product metrics to AdMob. PrairieSoft does not combine its metrics or feedback with advertising data.

Older versions may still use Pangle Global for rewarded advertising. For those versions, the provider’s data handling is described in Pangle’s privacy policy. Updating to the AdMob version replaces that advertising integration.

Advertising on this website

The LumaOrbit home page and eclipse guides may show a single, labeled display advertisement supplied by Google AdSense. The feedback form and this privacy policy are ad-free. Website ads do not cover content, play automatically, or require interaction.

When website advertising is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies and process IP-derived location, device, advertising, interaction, and diagnostic data to deliver, measure, secure, and personalize ads where permitted. Before enabling website ads, PrairieSoft configures the applicable consent choices for visitors in regions where consent is required. Google’s handling of data is described in its privacy information for partner sites.

PrairieSoft does not send feedback text, map coordinates, place searches, or its product metrics to Google AdSense, and does not combine those datasets with website advertising data.

Children

LumaOrbit does not knowingly request personal data from children. Feedback instructions explicitly ask users not to include names, contact details, precise locations, or other sensitive information.

Your choices

You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings. Rewarded advertising is optional. You can manage advertising privacy choices in the app when available and tracking permission in iOS Settings. Pro removes app advertising. You can avoid sending feedback, and you can remove locally stored app data by deleting the app. Anonymous feedback is automatically deleted within 90 days; if you retain its receipt number, you may request earlier deletion by email.

Changes

If LumaOrbit’s data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before the change is released.
